Vancouver Canucks Song: With Pick Five (Prince Parody)

Although the Vancouver Canucks slipped to fifth in last Saturday’s lottery for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, they are still confident that they will pick a “foundational player”.

In our new parody song, we look ahead to next month’s draft and at some of the players the Canucks will likely considering picking.  As well, we pay tribute to the legendary Prince – who passed away on April 21, 2016.

I’m joined by regular collaborators – the lovely and talented Marie Hui and Arielle Tuliao for our version of “When Doves Cry”.

Clay’s Canucks Composition: Willie is Here / Willie D (Michael Jackson Parody)

We made songs for new Canucks’ President Trevor Linden and new Canucks’ GM Jim Benning…so rightfully new Canucks’ head coach Willie Desjardins deserved a song as well.

Thus, we proudly present to you a quick mash-up of two Michael Jackson songs:  “Will You Be There” and “Billie Jean”.  Our versions are “Willie is Here” and “Willie D”.

I’m joined once again by my good friend Joseph San Jose and our MJ look-alike is Charly Pimentel making his CCC debut.

Clay’s Canucks Composition: Jimmy B – Parody of The Beatles’ “Let it Be”

Last week, Canucks’ President Trevor Linden named Jim Benning (affectionately referred to as “Jimmy B” for the purposes of our video) as the 11th General Manager in franchise history.

As soon as the hire was officially announced, a few of my Twitter friends had song suggestions for me. But Steve May went one step further: he wrote an entire song and sent the lyrics to me.

Thus, I proudly present to you my latest Clay’s Canucks Composition: “Jimmy B” an ode to new General Manager Jim Benning to the tune of The Beatles’ classic “Let it Be”.

As always, I’m joined by the amazing Marie Hui; there is absolutely nothing that this girl can’t sing!

Vancouver Canucks Song: Trevor (Parody of Bruno Mars’ “Treasure”)

Last week, Trevor Linden was named President of Hockey Operations of the Vancouver Canucks.  Arguably the most-popular player in the history of the franchise, Linden’s hiring ushers in a new era for the team.

Thus, as with any big Canucks development, I wrote a song about it.

Inspired by “Treasure” by Bruno Mars, we proudly present to you my latest Clay’s Canucks Composition: “Trevor” — a song that pays homage to the new President.

I’m blessed to be joined by four wonderfully talented friends, all of whom have appeared in previous videos of mine:  Marie Hui, Arielle Tuliao, Oggy Luistro, and Joseph San Jose.  Enjoy!

CCC – Clay’s Canucks Commentary for February 11, 2012: Your Favourite Hockey Memory (Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada)

My son Sean and I took in the festivities at the Richmond Olympic Oval for the Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada celebration on Saturday, February 11, 2012.

We were able to witness a celebrity ball hockey game, some junior hockey, street hockey, NHL awards, NHL Hall of Fame exhibit and much more. We also met Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie, legendary broadcaster Jim Robson, and Captain Canuck himself, Trevor Linden (look for a video blog soon on http://www.canuckshockeyblog.com)

I, along with the Canucks Hockey Blog crew, interviewed many attendees at the event and ask them: What is your favourite hockey memory?

In this CCC, I share some of my pics from the event as well as my own favourite hockey memories.

I would love to read or watch some of yours…so post a reply below!
