On October 3, 2015, my work colleague and friend Erwin married beautiful Alexandria in London, Ontario. I was blessed to emcee the reception that evening, and as part of the program I presented the following story about Erwin and Alex: their meeting, the courting period, their dating, and the proposal.
The story of Erwin and Alex begins in March 2013 when Erwin sat across from me (and 3 others) in a boardroom in downtown Vancouver. We asked questions and he did his best to answer them.
One month later he was living in Vancouver and working at a new job. For a really good looking boss.
As I mentioned earlier, Erwin and Alex met in Saskatoon in January 2014 when they were both there for some youth ministry gatherings that had some really long names.
Alex’s first impression of Erwin was hardly a positive one. She found him abrupt, unapproachable, and standoffish. Pretty much everything you look for in a future husband.
On May 30, 2015, my dear friends Joseph and Marion got married and it was such a wonderful day: the Mass at St. Paul’s was beautiful and the reception at All Saints was fun and full of love. I was blessed to emcee the reception that evening, and as part of the program I presented the following story about Joseph and Marion: their meeting, the courting period, their dating, and the proposal.
In the fall of 2011, the Catholic Church was preparing to embrace a new translation and new parts for the Mass. Little did Joseph and Marion know that God was preparing them to celebrate a big change via a sacrament as well…but 4 years down the road.
On November 8, 2013, Genevieve and Jivvy got married in Renton, Washington. I was blessed to co-emcee the reception that evening, and as part of the program I presented the following story about Gen and Jivvy about how they met and how they got to know each other. Enjoy!
The Great Adventure of Jivvy and Genevieve began over 12 years ago in the summer of 2001. Ah yes, the glorious time of the summer of 2001. Microsoft unveiled Windows XP. Beijing was named the host of the 2008 Summer Olympics. The top movies were The Princess Bride, Rush Hour 2, and American Pie 2. And the undisputed number 1 song was the Destiny’s Child smash hit Bootylicious.
But more relevant and more importantly, the summer of 2001 was when Jivvy and Gen met for the first time: on the University of British Columbia campus for a Singles for Christ Conference called “One”. Upon hearing some sweet sounds and silky smooth voices, Gen noticed a pile of women surrounding a couple of men singing some songs. The two dudes in the middle were Jivvy and his cousin leading the music ministry for part of the event. Needless to say, Gen was quite impressed…along with many of the other ladies there who were single…and apparently ready to mingle.
On June 29, 2013, my dear friends Krissy and Stephen got married in a beautiful celebration at St. Paul Parish in Richmond. I was blessed to co-emcee the reception that evening, and as part of the program I presented the following story about Krissy and Stephen: their meeting, the courting period, their dating, and the proposal. The following is my interpretation of what they shared with me separately – I may have taken creative license in a few parts. :p
The International House of Pancakes.
Who would have known that a quaint little restaurant in north east Richmond would be the birth place of a wonderful relationship – one full of courtship, romance, excitement, and memory loss.
