As the Canucks’ playoff hopes slip away, I turned to my keyboard for comfort and came up with a brand new parody song.
While I’ve never been part of “Team Tank”, I do indeed realize that the worse the Canucks do in the standings, the greater chance of winning the draft lottery and picking Auston Matthews at number one.
So here’s a song that inspires hope for the future – a future that would be a lot brighter with the best player in the available in this June’s NHL Draft, Auston Matthews.
My 12-year-old son Jacob took a break from his bowling and speed stacking to provide the vocals in this parody of Charlie Puth’s song “One Call Away”.
For the 2015-2016 NHL season, I’ll be doing regular video blogs chronicling the Vancouver Canucks’ season.

This season will be an important one for Linden Vey.
Penciled in as the fourth-line centre for the Canucks heading into the regular season, Vey has a lot to prove after signing a one-year, one million dollar deal with the club this summer. The team had high hopes for him when they traded a second-round pick to the Kings for him in the summer of 2014, and his new contract gives Vey another year to show that he be a vital part of the team.

In January of this year, Jordyn Leopold (11 year-old daughter of NHL defenceman Jordan Leopold) wrote an impassioned letter to the Minnesota Wild urging them to trade for her father to bring him home to Minnesota.
She said that her dad was lonely and that she was lost without him.
