Here are Kayla’s reflections upon receiving Jesus for the first time on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at St. Paul Parish in Richmond.
Music is “Abide With Me” by Matt Maher off his album “Saints and Sinners”.
I’m thrilled to share our rendition of the song; a powerful proclamation of the life that we have because of Jesus.
This cover features Joseph San Jose, Monica Lou Ponce, and Marion Cheah. I’m impressed by their talent and musicianship, but more importantly by their faithfulness and humility.
I hope you enjoy listening and watching this as much as we enjoyed recording it.
Name drop alert: most people know that I’m friends with Christian songwriter and worship leader Matt Maher. Mind you, we’re not best friends, but we’re friends nonetheless. He answers my texts once in a while, so in my book, we’re friends. :p
He’s my favourite worship leader for many reasons. Ever since I met him in 1995, I’ve been impressed by his talent, his faithfulness, and his humility. He’s a brilliant musician, he’s an intelligent writer and storyteller, he has a profound understanding of church, he’s a lot of fun to be around, he’s Catholic, he’s Canadian, he’s been a long-time friend to both the Archdiocese of Vancouver and to me, and we’re the same age.
Here’s a highlight video of my #Roadto40 Roast held at the Hog Shack Cook House in Richmond on Saturday, June 28, 2014. I’ve condensed 2 hours of roasts down to 30 minutes.
I’ve never had so much fun having my self-esteem completely shredded. And I can’t really complain about the birthday serenade by Marie and Arielle (right at the start of the video). And thanks to Nicole for the awesome cake!
The speakers touch on all aspects of my life, from growing up to youth ministry to social media to the Canucks to YouTube videos to my friendship with Matt Maher haha. The complete list of speakers (in order of appearance in the video is):
-Gerard Garcia and Rich Chen
-Krissy Chua Litam
-Joseph San Jose
-Jason and Mike McBurney
You can see photos from the event here.
Big thanks to Allan and John of the Hog Shack for hosting us!
When I was in Saskatoon last month, I was blessed to spend some time with an adorable and spunky 3 year-old named Jacinta. She is the daughter of Colm and Sharon…both of whom I’ve known for many years through diocesan youth ministry.
Sharon has put together a great YouTube channel called Deep Thoughts featuring videos of Jacinta. She has participated in dance-offs, monologues, public service announcements, and even helped announced pregnancies!
I put on my Vancouver Canucks jersey while Jacinta put on her Montreal Canadiens jersey and the game can-you-top-this was on. Enjoy!
