For my first CCC of the 2013 NHL season, I share some of the sights and sounds from the Canucks’ opening weekend at Rogers Arena. Unfortunately, the weekend consisted of two losses: 7-3 to Anaheim on Saturday night and 3-2 to Edmonton on Sunday night.
It was certainly an intriguing weekend as both Cory Schneider and Roberto Luongo got starts. As well, the Canucks’ secondary scoring (or lack thereof) was quite evident.
My buddy Mike also captured some neat footage from ice level as he was chosen to receive the jersey off of a player’s back. He ended up getting the jersey of David Booth and had a pleasant exchange with him. As well, we got footage of Chris Higgins removing his jersey…much to the delight of numerous female fans.
Hopefully the Canucks get their first win of the season Wednesday night against Calgary!
It’s been just over 24 hours since the Vancouver Canucks were unceremoniously eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Los Angeles Kings in just five games. As I outlined in my season-ending Clay’s Canucks Commentary, I was quite saddened and disappointed immediately after the game especially given the high hopes for the Canucks in the post-season.
After drowning our sorrows in some beef sashimi and salmon cones, my son Sean and I made it home just after 10pm. There, I was met by my lovely wife Gail.
“I’m so sad, disappointed and frustrated,” I lamented, “and I’m not even on the team!”
In my final regularly-scheduled CCC for the 2011-2012 season, I take a quick look at the disappointing end to the Vancouver Canucks season; a season that ended with 2 – 1 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings handily won the series 4 games to 1.
I share some quick thoughts on what issues the Canucks will have to tackle in the off-season and I also draw comparisons to the ending of this year’s playoff run to last year’s ending.
Thank you to all of you, the faithful viewers of these video blogs. I appreciate all of the comments, feedback, suggestions, and encouragement. See you next season and Go Canucks Go!
The Vancouver Canucks may be down but they’re certainly not out of their first-round NHL Western Conference quarterfinal playoff series with the Los Angeles Kings. Despite the Canucks’ victory on Wednesday night, they are still behind 3 games to 1.
With Game 5 Sunday night at Rogers Arena, the Canucks should be able to feed off a loud and raucous crowd. It’s time for Canucks fans to unite and get the behind the blue and green!
I brought in my good friend: the lovely and talented Arielle Tuliao to help me express this notion in song: Don’t Stop Believing!
