C4 Canucks Podcast: A New Hope

After a two-month hiatus, we’re back with our latest C4 podcast on Canucks Hockey Blog.

Matt Lee and I tee up another Vancouver Canucks season! With the preseason well under way, we spend some time talking about Jake Virtanen and Brendan Gaunce, who they think will make the opening night roster, and everything else we can think of.

Listen to the podcast on Canucks Hockey Blog here.

Things That Make You Go Hmmm: CHB Tweetup Edition

This post also appears on Canucks Hockey Blog.

There are many reasons why you should eagerly anticipate the Canucks Hockey Blog tweetup at the Hog Shack in beautiful Steveston in Richmond taking place this Saturday afternoon:  a good game (hopefully) between the Canucks and the Sharks, good food, contests, and of course, great company.  As I look ahead to Saturday, there are a few tweetup-specific Things That Make Me Go Hmmm:

1.  Do you remember your first time? If this is your first-ever tweetup, we welcome you with open arms!  It promises to be a lot of fun and as they say, you always remember your first time.  My first tweetup was back on May 22, 2011 at Guildford’s Boston Pizza when the Canucks beat the same Sharks 4-2 to take a 3-1 series lead in the Western Conference Finals.  At this official Vancouver Canucks tweetup, I met JJ and Chris of CHB for the very first time, and they immediately put me to work making me film this.  We had a great time chatting and filming and we even roped the Game Day Guys (Andrew, Chris and Reigan) in for a few thoughts.  Thankfully, the first impressions were decent enough both ways as they are still letting me contribute to the site.  Other highlights of the day included meeting Nicole Van Zanten (Social Media Coordinator of the Canucks) and devouring my Hawaiian pizza.

Replace the KB: Thank You

They announced the results of the “Replace the KB” blogging competition yesterday and unfortunately I was not chosen as one of the 4 winners (see the announcement of the winners here).

To everyone who’s supported me: I am so grateful for your encouragement, support and advocacy over the past 4 weeks.  You’ve had to endure a half-dozen emails (sometimes from out of town and/or at weird times of the night/morning), numerous texts, and countless Facebook updates.

Whether you read or watched every single thing I posted or you blindly just gave me a thumbs up without even reading a word, I thank you with all of my heart.  Along with the 4 chosen winners, I think the real winners are the hockey fans of Vancouver as they were exposed to the good work of a new wave of bloggers.  Sounds so cliché but it’s true.  Well, it’s my story at least and I’m sticking to it!  And it’s a lot better than accusing The Province editors of racism…haha.

I’m especially thankful for those who took time out to either appear in a video and in essence steal the show (Marie and Gene), do some masterful photoshopping (Chris) or send me song suggestions for my goal songs post (Mike, Jason, Jon, Dave, Joseph, Patrick and Richard).  Obviously, I couldn’t have done it without you!

I will continue to write a regular column for Canucks Hockey Blog (www.canuckshockeyblog.com) and continue to do the Clay’s Canucks Commentary video blogs for my own site here.

Once again, thanks for your love and support.  I’m blessed to have family and friends like you!

God bless and go Canucks go!
