40 Things I Love About my Lovely Wife

My lovely wife Gail turns 40 years old today. To honour her, here are 40 things that I love about her.

  1. She’s lovely. Hence the title of this blog post.
  2. She’s humble. You don’t see her planning her own birthday party and then inviting people to talk about her at it and calling it a #Roadto40 Roast. Who on earth does that?
  3. She’s a wonderful wife. I don’t think anyone else would marry me. My friend Mike Patin likes to remind me that I married up. I can’t disagree.
  4. She’s an awesome mother. She is a natural mother thanks to many of the qualities on this list. Our kids are extremely lucky. As am I.
  5. She’s a great teacher. She has spent 15 years honing her craft and it shows.cg3 Continue reading 40 Things I Love About my Lovely Wife

#Roadto40 Roast Highlights: Clay’s 40th Birthday

Here’s a highlight video of my #Roadto40 Roast held at the Hog Shack Cook House in Richmond on Saturday, June 28, 2014. I’ve condensed 2 hours of roasts down to 30 minutes.

I’ve never had so much fun having my self-esteem completely shredded. And I can’t really complain about the birthday serenade by Marie and Arielle (right at the start of the video). And thanks to Nicole for the awesome cake!

The speakers touch on all aspects of my life, from growing up to youth ministry to social media to the Canucks to YouTube videos to my friendship with Matt Maher haha. The complete list of speakers (in order of appearance in the video is):

-Gerard Garcia and Rich Chen
-Krissy Chua Litam
-Derek Hume
-Joyce Santos
-Craig Boyd
-Joseph San Jose
-Christina Estrada
-Oggy Luistro
-Arielle Tuliao
-Jason and Mike McBurney
-Jason Imoo

You can see photos from the event here.

Big thanks to Allan and John of the Hog Shack for hosting us!

40 Things I Will Accomplish Before my 40th Birthday

Celebrating my 39th birthday at The Keg

As I enter my 40th year, there are many areas of my life that I would like to improve including my spirituality, my health, my work, my relationships, and my important roles as husband and father.  Thus, here are 40 things I will accomplish this year before my 40th birthday:

  1. Go to bed earlier.
  2. Get up earlier.
  3. Be less lazy.
  4. Pray more as a family.
  5. Get Archbishop Michael to laugh at one of my jokes because it’s funny and not out of sympathy.
  6. Be as much parent as I am playmate to my children.
  7. Help Sean discern which high school he will go to for grade 8.
  8. Spend more intentional one-on-one time with Jacob.
  9. Spend more intentional one-on-one time with Kayla.
  10. Take Gail out on more dates. Continue reading 40 Things I Will Accomplish Before my 40th Birthday
