5 Reasons why Elias Pettersson is a Good Pick for the Vancouver Canucks

With the 5th overall pick in the 2017 NHL entry draft, the Vancouver Canucks selected Swedish centreman Elias Pettersson.

The pick may have surprise some Canucks fans who expected the club to select Cody Glass.

However, in this Clay’s Canucks Commentary, I outline 5 reasons why this was a great pick for the Canucks.

“Trevor” (Bruno Mars Parody): Trevor Linden at St. Paul School, Richmond

On June 12, Canucks president Trevor Linden surprised St. Paul School principal Mrs. Moorehead at a special assembly organized by the outgoing grade 7 class and their teacher Mrs. Espinosa.

As part of the assembly, the talented grade 7 students performed “Trevor”, a parody of Bruno Mars’ hit song “Treasure”.

Kudos to singers Anna, Sophia, Sharlene, and Renai for crushing the song. As well, to Eldric, Matthew, Joshua, and Mr. Kelly for the great instrumentation.

Thanks to Mrs. Dela Rosa for the footage.

Lastly, a big thanks to the Canucks organization, Trevor Linden, and FIN for making the morning so memorable.

Bad Joke Telling with Archbishop J. Michael Miller

While Archbishop Michael has a lot of serious responsibilities, I’m blessed to see his lighter side in working with him on a regular basis.

Thus, I was thrilled when he agreed to face off with me in a Bad Joke Telling contest.

See who prevails in this ultimate showdown.

Clay’s Corner Episode #14: It’s a Wedding, Not a Funeral

This past Saturday, my sister-in-law Julie Ann married Patrick in a beautiful wedding Mass at St. Paul’s Parish in Richmond, BC.

It’s just too bad I told everyone it was a funeral Mass.

In this anniversary edition of Clay’s Corner, I walk through what I was thinking – and what I wasn’t thinking – as I made the silly mistake.

Kids Bowl Free all Summer at Lucky 9 Lanes in Richmond

Our family loves bowling.

That should come as a surprise to absolutely no one given how often the boys and I are at the bowling alley.   Sean has been working at Richmond’s Lucky 9 Lanes (formerly The Zone) for the past 6 months, so he’s there two or three times a week.

Then there’s Jacob – the 3-time provincial medalist (he has two silver medals and one bronze medal as he chases that elusive gold).  He fell in love with bowling as soon as he tried it.

And of course there’s me.   I love playing, although my form and technique leave a lot to be desired; I’m just trying to regularly out-bowl my weight.
